Addis Ababa, 30 May 2012 (WIC) – The United States government will launch a five-year 70 million US dollars project to carry out a combined and comprehensive HIV prevention program in Ethiopia tomorrow, May 31, 2012.
With funding from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will partner with Population Service International (PSI) and World Learning to implement the program.
According to a statement the US Embassy here sent to WIC yesterday, the program which will be implemented in close partnership with the government of Ethiopia is expected to benefit over 1.5 million people over the coming five years.
Ethiopian Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, US Ambassador to Ethiopian Donald E. Booth, USAID Mission Director Thomas Staal and other invited guests are expected to present at the launch program.
