The World Family Ethiopian Orphans and Medical Care - Ethiopia The World Family Ethiopian Orphans and Medical Care works in collaboration with the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health, Clinton HIV/AIDS Rural Initiative and other partners. Euyeal Yoseph Zeleke, EOAF Founder, lost his sister to Breast Cancer and AIDS in June of 2000. He made a promise to himself that he would help educate and assist the prevention and awareness of this deadly virus. Their mission is to improve the health care in Ethiopia, reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and support comprehensive care for orphans through self sufficient and sustainable programs. |

AIDS Orphans Assistance Database (Association Francois-Xavier Bagnoud) - USA The AOAD is a joint effort of AFXB and the ECD Team, Education Sector of the World Bank. The purpose of the AOAD is to facilitate cooperation among organizations and individuals assisting children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS and their caregivers. The AOAD allows users to find, learn about and contact each other. The database also aims to help donors identify potential project partners directly, thus eliminating costly intermediaries. |

Children and AIDS International Non-Governmental Organization Network (CAINN) - International The network was established by NGOs and community-based organizations to promote the voices, rights and needs of children and young people infected by, affected by and vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Its key objective is to promote the implementation of the UN Convention on Rights of the Child and other relevant international declarations and agreements. It has developed Children Living in a World with AIDS: Guidelines for Children's Participation in HIV/AIDS Programmes with support from UNAIDS. Children on the Brink 2002 (UNAIDS) This publication contains statistics on children orphaned by HIV/AIDS from 88 countries, analysis of the trends found in those statistics, and strategies and principles for helping the children. This document covers 1990 to 2010 and provides the broadest and most comprehensive statistics yet on the historical, current and projected number of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. It also stresses that the growing needs of other children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS must be met. |
